{"id":613,"date":"2014-12-31T13:14:46","date_gmt":"2014-12-31T13:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/?p=613"},"modified":"2014-12-31T13:14:46","modified_gmt":"2014-12-31T13:14:46","slug":"practice-what-we-teach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/2014\/12\/31\/practice-what-we-teach\/","title":{"rendered":"Practice What We Teach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We spend a lot of time preparing for the coming year and planning our future.\u00a0 And following this year&#8217;s process that was more detailed and thought through than any of the previous 17 years, I realized just how blessed I am to work with an outstanding team of leaders.\u00a0 Individuals who are all working in collaborative teams, focused on a common goal.\u00a0 Sound familiar?\u00a0 If you know Solution Tree and PLCs it should.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Slide11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-617\" alt=\"Slide1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Slide11.jpg?resize=300%2C225\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Slide11.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Slide11.jpg?resize=400%2C300&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Slide11.jpg?w=720&amp;ssl=1 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lots of what we do is based on the tenants of PLCs, because PLCs are not just for schools.\u00a0 They work in businesses, non-profits, social organizations, and in life itself.\u00a0 I certainly have reflected on the aspects of PLCs many times as a husband and a parent.<\/p>\n<p>So this past Fall I reflected on what our authors, associates and staff do to help schools implement PLC to a high level of success.\u00a0 Following a review of the Three Big Ideas, I spent a lot of time thinking about the four corollary question of PLC.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What do we want kids to learn?<\/li>\n<li>How will we know if they are learning it?<\/li>\n<li>What will we do if they don\u2019t?<\/li>\n<li>What will we do if they do?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Then I rephrase that question just a little and ask each of our Department Leaders:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>What are the outcomes you desire?<\/li>\n<li>How will we know if you are on track?<\/li>\n<li>What will we do if it seem you will fall short?<\/li>\n<li>What will we do when you achieve and exceed?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now put them into any department\u2019s goals and you have a framework for building a solid business plan.<\/p>\n<p>Most companies are good at questions 1 &amp;
