When we were leaving the plane she recognized me from one of our events, a conversation about education broke out, and a friendship formed.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>An extremely impressive young woman who invited me to visit Combs on my next trip to NC.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>When I found an opportunity and told her I would love to meet the staff, little did I know that I was going to be <em>\u2018Leader Of The Week\u2019<\/em> for a 5<sup>th<\/sup> Grade Assembly.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Combs is implementing PLCs and has a culture that is built around Steven Covey\u2019s 7 Habits in a extrodinary way.\u00a0 This is shirt they gave me, and I saw at least four staff wearing the same shirt that day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_6039.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-333\" alt=\"IMG_6039\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_6039.jpg?resize=225%2C300\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_6039.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_6039.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_6039.jpg?w=1168 1168w, https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/whywedoit.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_6039.jpg?w=1752 1752w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The students at the Assembly were a diverse population, extremely polite, well briefed on the event, and prepared for the occasion.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>The panel of 7 students, professionally dressed, GRILLED me on each of the 7 Habits and they related to my life and Solution Tree.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>This group was as impressive as a PLC Institute Panel of Educators at the PLC Summit.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>I then fielded questions from the remaining students, had pictures taken, and was even invited by one young man to his house the next day for a pancake breakfast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">AP Combs is a model school of efficiency and professionalism.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They are a true Professional Learning Community, living out the 7 Habits each and every day, and know what it takes to develop young educators.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It was an honor to be a<em> \u2018Leader Of The Week\u2019<\/em> and my new e-pen pal and I are planning my next visit&#8230;with pancakes on the agenda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week I was invited to AP Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, NC.\u00a0 A phenomenal school run by a team of educators whose passion would be tough to surpass, lead by Dr. Muriel Summers. .
